three days, three ways

We rounded up some of our favourite Salt Spring activities and grouped them by region. Happy exploring!

South End

  1. Grab a coffee at Rock Salt Cafe and browse through locally-made treasures at The Pottery.

  2. Visit Chris Hatfield trail - and stop at Damazu Studio on your way, if they’re open!

  3. Build your own picnic at Saltspring Vineyards and hang out beside the pond to share a bottle of rose (with a designated driver!)

  4. Swing by Salt Spring Kombucha farm stand for boochtail ingredients and Salt Spring Ales to fill your growlers.

  5. Jump in Stowel Lake to freshen up, visit the chickens and goats at Salt Spring Island Cheese, and stop by Haidee Hart's The Woodshed for dinner supplies.

  6. Enjoy a meal made with seasonal farm produce, and crack into those boochtails and local beers with friends around a campfire at Ruckle Park, if they're permitted.

Central

  1. Visit Switchboard Cafe for a coffee and treat. Relax with a book of poetry outside to start your day right.

  2. Stroll through Mouat’s Park, an easy walk that is great for kids.

  3. Enjoy some sunshine on the grass at Francis Bread and delight in some woodfired baguette sandwiches for lunch.

  4. Walk through Ganges Village and peruse all the local shops - we love the Waterfront Gallery, SALT, Osisi, Foxes Board Games, Twang & Pearl, Salt Spring Books, Mondo Trading - just go everywhere!

  5. Stop by Dos Amores Tortillería for tacos & tortas to go.

  6. Enjoy your takeout at Churchill Beach. Be brave, have a swim!

North End

  1. Explore the Channel Ridge trails - grab a map as some trails are harder than others. Don’t forget to read our online story on the history of Channel Ridge and how it almost became Salt Spring’s fourth village centre!

  2. Sunbathe at St. Mary’s Lake, the largest lake on the Island.

  3. Take a photo on the bright red Fernwood Pier, another great spot to spend some time beachcombing if the tide is out.

  4. Take a little roadtrip and stop at Northend Farm, The Piper’s Buns, Lavender & Black, and Mountain View Bakery.

  5. Order pizza to-go from Twig and Buoy.

  6. Rock bathe at Southey Point, and dig into your takeout pizza before a beautiful sunset.
