Hey, Salt Spring! It’s time to vote for the LCC.
Hey, Salt Spring! It's time to vote!
Last October, Salt Spring residents voted YES in a referendum to adopt a bylaw to create a Local Community Commission. The LCC, along with our CRD Electoral Area Director (Gary Holman), will oversee and advise on economic development, wastewater disposal, community parks and recreation, small craft harbour facilities, transit and transportation, street lighting, grants-in-aid, compensation for livestock injured by dogs, and the contribution services for arts, public library, and search and rescue.
As residents of Salt Spring Island gear up for our very first Local Community Commission (LCC) election, it's crucial to recognize the significance of casting your vote. By electing four local community commissioners, Salt Spring Islanders have a unique opportunity to shape the future of our beloved island. Advanced voting starts TODAY (Wednesday, May 17), so review the resources below to get informed on who the 15 candidates are and make sure to do your civic duty and VOTE.
